Starting to get crazy…

Oct 10, 2008 in Future, Government, Life

For the first time this year, people are starting to think war. I have now seen several reports from iReport.com claiming that they are thinking this election is going to end up in war. The thing that they don’t seem to understand is that the election itself has nothing to do with it. Well, it gets people all riled up, but doesn’t really cause the problems.

Where do the problems start then? It begins with people in our government not doing their jobs. When the Congress has a 13% approval rating, they ALL need to go.

The second thing that will start it is the Office of the Executive. The Office of the President for those of you that don’t know your government. We have had a series of presidents that refuse to stick to their guns. Especially on the Republican side. Instead of having at least 50% of the country feeling somewhat good about them, they continue to change sides. Moderate to Liberal to Conservative to whatever the hell they call themselves now. To be frank, it seems that the more our great country ages, the more our presidents move to the left.

The third thing to worry about is the Judicial. When the founding fathers created this government, they built it to avoid any single part of the government from having absolute control. The Judicial has that control though. They can now create law by interpreting it in a way that changes the meaning. Sadly, there are very few of them out there that have any sort of honor.

So what is it that starts the war then? We have established that our government is not only flawed at the personal level, but is not representative of the people. The start of the war will not be a giant flareup such as a mass secession like what occurred during the first civil war. It will begin with the government attacking the people. Not in large ways, but in small ways. Things like the polygamist camp in Texas this summer. Things like Ruby Ridge.

When these things start to happen several times a year, or even several times a month, you will start to see the uprising occur. Even those things will not be enough to spark this off though.

The real thing that will do it will be hunger. Just watch and wait. When the food stops (soon), the government attacks the people (infrequent, but happening), and we are no longer represented in Washington (now), the war will start. We are getting closer.

Make sure you get your supplies ready. Food, water, seeds for planting, extra shoes and boots, clothing, guns and ammo for hunting and protection. Make sure you are prepared. I would start today before your money isn’t worth a damn thing. You should probably expect that sometime later this year or early next year if the financial markets don’t start moving in the right direction. Hyper-inflation is bad and on its way.

Just got some more supplies.

Oct 09, 2008 in Future, Life, Stuff, Work

With what little cash I had left, I went and bought some seeds. Various things like corn, watermellon, tomatos and some other things. I have told people to do it lately as a hedge against food shortages that will begin to occur this winter and spring. I suggest you all do it too. Having that bit of extra food available is going to be something that we will all need soon enough. Even if there are no shortages, you spent 2 bucks on a packet of seeds and got hundreds of dollars of food from it. Do the math.

Beyond that, I got more water as well. I figured I could survive between what I have and using the springs in the area. My next purchase is going to be more ammo. I just get this gut feeling that we may not come out of this with our lives quite the same as they are now.

In other news, nobody is hiring because of this crap. Such a shame.

Figuring out what to do…

Sep 29, 2008 in Business, Future, Life

There are so many questions in life. Sometimes you have to decide whether to move. Sometimes you have to decide if you should quit your job. Sometimes you have to decide where to throw your energy and work.

As those of you know that care to read this blog, I have had a hard time with jobs lately. In fact, I can’t find one. I had a great setup for a while there, but lost my mind and lost my setup. Stupidity.

Now I am in a position where I get to find a way to get back to work. And to be quite frank, that is VERY hard in this state. It seems like I am fucking worthless here to companies. The beauty is that they were willing to offer me 90 a year 8 months ago, but suddenly they can’t afford it or just won’t hire me. Even for lower paying positions. It is odd.

So yeah, just noticed that the House rejected the bailout bill. Good. It is just going to get harder now, but at least when it gets better, it will REALLY be better. Not just an artificial bubble.

So that does it. I am moving back to Texas. S13 will have to wait until I am able to pay my bills again.

Lord… Job hunting sucks…

Jun 12, 2008 in Future, Life, Stuff, Work

I have been busting my ass for a couple weeks now looking for a job. No luck so far. It seems that I have been blacklisted or something. I am not even getting emails now. And I have applied for damn near 100 jobs with only two solid leads. It is a shame. I should have just dealt with the job until I couldn’t anymore, but such is life.

If anyone out there has something, I would LOVE to hear about it. I am going to be seriously in trouble by next Friday if I don’t have something lined up. I am good with contracts or full time. I am an administrator, so if you need computer work done, and it pays something above $26 an hour, let me know.

There is really no other news. I have been job hunting and studying for my LPIC 1. Studying is SO freaking tiring though.

Oh yeah, I started running again. I go and do stairs up at our local football stadium. Each flight has 33 steps. So far, I am up to doing 24 flights. It isn’t much, but I am busting my ass trying to make it happen. I will keep you updated and such. I am hoping to be up to 42 flights by the end of the month. We will see.

ODD!

Jun 04, 2008 in Future, Life, Past, Work

So I failed a background check with Overstock.com about 6 months ago. Since then, I have gotten the previous issues taken care of and my record is clean. Expungement is AWESOME. So I am working with my recruiter down at KForce, and he tells me that they are hiring again. I am stoked because I really think that a job with Overstock would be great. He starts talking to them and getting the ball rolling a little bit. I get a call. Overstock informed him that if you fail a background check in the past at all, you are not eligible to work for them again. Major fail.

So yeah, I am working to find something else. I was really hoping that this transition would be a fast one, but it seems that I was incorrect in placing my hopes so high.

Time to get to work looking for more work. I really want to move back to Dallas. I think I will start looking much harder there.

The Job Hunt Begins…

Jun 02, 2008 in Future, Life, Technology, Work

So in about 9 hours, I have an interview/meeting with a guy that is a recruiter with KForce. I am hoping these guys actually have something for me. I have just started this job search thing and I am already sick of it.

In other news, I have started working with Fedora 9 a little bit. I love it. So far it is much better than Ubuntu 8.04 in almost every way. Wine works out of the box, which is a definite start in the right direction. Beyond that, the boot times are MUCH faster for the same machine. I do have to say that I am now running a 64 bit kernel now as opposed to a 32 bit kernel with Ubuntu. Regardless, what a difference. Everything from install to initial login was smoother and more efficient. In my eyes, Fedora 9 is the way to go.

I will update as soon as I have any information on the job search. I have four major opportunities I am looking at right now. One in Utah, two in Dallas, and one in New Jersey. I am really hoping to either stay in Salt Lake or go to Dallas. New Jersey would be an adventure, but it would be quite a change. And starting over is a bit of a pain when it comes to friends and such. Though I have some friends in Boston, that is a bit of a drive. So yeah. There you go. You are up to date on my life.

Saosin Rocks Socks…

May 17, 2008 in Future, Life, Music

I have been listening to these guys for quite some time and have finally come to the conclusion that they are easily one of the most talented groups around. While I understand that they are no longer together in their initial form, I really still believe they are quite good.

Saosin will be here in Utah coming up in the next month or so. Chris and I are thinking about going possibly. I think I will. Regardless of all you little screamo bastards out there.

Right. I am done. hehe

Days and Nights: Part Deux

Apr 15, 2008 in Future, News

So when I started Days and Nights, I figured that I would keep everything anonymous… Names would be changed and all that crap they do in really bad spy movies. It was mostly a ploy to keep this a bastion of pissing and moaning for me. I have decided to change this. I am starting to get big enough that using fake names is getting to be problematic. Not to mention, the new pictures for the rotating header are going to be of me and friends and such, so faking the names doesn’t make much sense.

My want for pissing and moaning has changed to a need to grow Days and Nights into something worth reading, so in the next week or so, expect to see some changes here and there. You will see the names change on the Cast and Crew page as well as a change in the writing on The Story. There will of course be some things left out that may cause problems as far as identity theft and such go, but in the overall scheme of things, it will be mostly correct.

To start this off, I am Brad. No more crappy three part name. Just Brad. Good times.

If you have ideas or things you would like on the site, please let me know. Ciao.

Dallas, HERE I COME! Maybe.

Apr 11, 2008 in Future, Past, Stuff, Work

So CFDynamics is thinking about offering me a position in Dallas again. We spoke about it today at length and the numbers are being crunched on both sides. I should have an offer on the table next week, and will be moving at the end of June if everything is kosher.

I am a bit worried about having enough money around to get down there and make sure everything is paid. I refuse to go into debt again to move to Dallas. To help with that though, I am going to be getting rid of my car in the near future. I am currently dishing out about $350 a month for it. I want something used that I can pay $200 or below for. So yeah, if any of you want to buy a blue 2005 Mazda 6i, let me know. I will just let it go for what I owe on it.

Now for the maybe part. I already talked about money above. This is the clincher for this position. I know what some of the others in the company are making already. I don’t expect some of the more experienced salary ranges, but I need to have enough to live. I hope they understand that. Especially considering that my current fiscal situation revolves around working with them before and having to go into debt on a considerable scale to do so.

Regardless of all the things there are to worry about, I really look forward to working with them again. CFDynamics is the only company I have ever worked for that I really loved, and I hope that I can find that again with them.

Crappy…

Apr 10, 2008 in Future, Life, Stuff, Technology

My laptop screen is kindof broken. The little area of plastic between the joint and the screen has a small crack. I am not happy. I am going to get as much use out of it as I can, but I am sure I will pick it up sometime in the near future and it will just die a horrible death. I am going to try to superglue it as well, but I am not sure if that is going to work. Worth a try though. If nothing better to just extend the life of the laptop. Especially since I have another gig of RAM on the way. *sigh*

In other news, I hate my job and really don’t want to continue working there. I am just barely able to keep my brain functioning during the day. Boredom is not even a word for it all. More like dundrum. What a shame too. I figured that it would be kindof cool, but I was SO wrong. Well, I take that back. It really isn’t a bad job. I just don’t DO enough. I am smarter than this. I don’t want to write reviews on software for the rest of my life. I am an administrator damnit.
